Lloyd's List

It was indeed an honor for Lloyd's List to rank Dr. Anil Sharma, President and Chief Executive Officer of GMS, as the 49th most powerful person in the shipping industry for 2010. But it is one of the greatest achievements for any individual or company to receive such an honor, two years in a row. In December 2011, Lloyd's List announced the Top 100 for 2011, which included Dr. Anil Sharma in the 47th position. Receiving the award in 2010, marked the first time in Lloyd's List history that a Cash Buyer has ever been selected to such an illustrious position.

Dr. Sharma praised his team for making this honor possible; stating they are some of the most hardworking and dedicated business professionals in the industry and this honor would not have been possible without their efforts. From the excellent SNP team which bring in the deals and drives the volumes of business, to the operations division, to the local team players in India, Bangladesh, China and Pakistan, that onward sells the ships better than others, to our local agents who are on call 24⁄7, to a finance and accounting department that ensures LCs are negotiated on time and sellers in turn get their funds in a timely manner for delivery and closing, it is indeed due to the cumulative commitments of the entire team that makes GMS great and worthy of being the recipient of this prestigious award for two years in a row.
